Inspiration pictures! They're a useful tool when deciding what you want to achieve in your makeup appointment. These are great to send before your makeup appointment to help give your artist a direction to go in and keep your appointment flowing smoothly. There are some things to keep in mind when you’re looking for images, and making sure you’re setting up your expectations accordingly when choosing these photos. I’m sure, as you have seen when looking through Pinterest or Instagram, the internet is a huge smorgasbord of information and pictures, and it can be hard to decide what style you’re looking for. Another hurdle is the vast number of edited/photoshopped images, that are posted with the assumption that they’re real. So much of what you see on Instagram and Pinterest are heavily edited, they’re not even realistic to achieve in real life. Makeup is amazing, but it’s not magic. OR, it will look great in pictures, due to filters and editing, but terrible and/or heavy in person.
Another thing to take into consideration is the face shape, shape of eyes, and other features, and realizing that you’re probably not going to achieve the exact same results if you have a completely different eye shape than your inspo pic.
Inpso pics are great for communicating, and showing your artist the colour schemes you want for your look. As well as the overall direction you want to go in. It also helps define exactly what you want, because everyone has a different interpretation of what a smokey eye looks like, and, what might be natural to one person, might be glam to someone who doesn’t wear makeup. Inspo pics are guides, meant to help form what you want, get the best out of your appointment, help your artist do their job, and help you be happy with the results!! During your appointment, if things aren't going the way you want it, don't be afraid to speak up. Your artist wants you to be happy with their work!
