My new MAC Book Pro & Assistant
Ahhhhhh.....to say I'm excited about my new MAC BOOK Pro is an understatement. I've had my fair share of crappy computers in the past, and the last two laptops I've had were in such terrible shape, they were tethered to an outlet 24/7. I had a laptop that lasted 7 years, it still worked, but no battery life. Then it completely died from hard drive failure, which was a bitter pill to swallow. I had lost, LOST, seven years of photos, documents, everything. Backing up was one of those things that I was "going to do tomorrow" and never did. Hard lesson to learn. Since then I've jumped on board with cloud based programs to keep my stuff backed the f*** up!! I use Google Photos and One Drive to save photos, and One Drive/MS Office 365 for all my documents, which actually works out amazingly, since I can access my stuff from all my devices. If you are like me, and keep putting off backing your stuff up, I HIGHLY recommend backing it up to a cloud service, immediately. I lost all photos of my third son's, and daughter's first years, and all the parties, and firsts, and accomplishments from my oldest two sons. It was a devastating loss.
The replacement laptop I had was an old computer from my husband's work, that was no longer used. It had broken hinges, and no battery life, so I was still tethered to the wall, even though it was a laptop. But it was free, and it worked, so who was I to complain.
The Mac Book Pro isn't completely new either, but it's an insane improvement, and I'll gladly take it. My assistant, Norah, (the cute furball featured to the left and above) approves of this upgrade too. I am finding the transition to be a bit of a challenge. I am so not familiar with the Mac operating system, and I have discovered, you can't do the copy (ctrl + c) and paste (ctrl + v) or undo (ctrl + z) on a Mac the hard way, when I just tried to move a paragraph, and totally lost it, hahaha. It's all a learning curve, but I'm excited to see the capabilities of this new device, and it's already such a pleasure to type on.
If you have any tips, or can point me in the direction to learn what this computer can do, PLEASE let me know!! And is there a way to do copy/pastes with keyboard short cuts?? I notice I can't right click on anything either....so far, it's an enigma, haha. I'm sure I'll catch on, sooner or later.
So what should you take away from my random ramblings? BACK YOUR S*** UP and use a cloud service. There are many to choose from, Google Photos is free, so is Google Docs. I also pay a monthly fee for Microsoft Office 365, which gives me all the Office programs, and 1 TB of storage. Plus, with cloud services, you can access them from whatever device you login with. Super convenient!!
That's all for now, so until next time
